Hello guys,
This issue has puzzled me for days. My new computer supposedly has the ability to play Blu-Ray discs. I have an HDCP compliant monitor, an HDCP compliant video card, and a blu-ray drive. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed.
The BD advisor from Cyberlink says that my video card is not compatible, but I ran a blu-ray disc and it played in PowerDVD 8 (BD version) perfectly. I had sound, picture, extra features. But I only got it to work once. Now, everytime I try any Blu-Ray disc I get an error:
![Dvd Dvd](https://cdn.ilovefreesoftware.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/backup-device-drivers-using-powershell-in-windows-10.png)
My graphics card is at its latest version, PowerDVD 8 is at it's latest version. Lite-On, the manufacturer of my BD drive, does not have updates for any of it's products. But reviews on Newegg indicate that other people had successes playing their blu-rays.
I reinstalled PowerDVD twice and updated it. PowerDVD must be updated otherwise it doesn't let me play any Blu-Ray disc, so I can't say if the update is the problem, but like I said earlier, I was able to play a Blu-ray disc before (albeit only once) after the update.
I downloaded a trial of Corel's WinDVD. It gives me: 'Media not supported' and refuses to play any Blu-ray disc.
Now the tricky thing is that a trial version of Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre 3 plays the same blu-ray that cannot be played in either WinDVD or PowerDVD. Except without sound. I read on their forums that due to copyright restrictions, blu-ray discs with Dolby sound are muted in the TRIAL version of TotalMedia Theatre 3. I tried a different blu-ray disc and it again works in TMT3 but not in either PowerDVD8 or WinDVD. I am playing a physical disc, not a mounted image or files ripped to hard drive.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone could point me in a direction for troubleshooting or alternatives. I could buy TMT3 and see if it works, but I would like to exhaust my possibilities before I spend another hefty sum.
